Hi everyone,i have some sad news,jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins died this morning at the age of 95.He’s best remembered for his hit “St.Thomas”.Other tunes he recorded including:Dolvy,and many other instrumentals. He was born on September 7th,1930 in New York City.He has performed at many events including performing at Carnegie Hall,The Museum of Modern Art,and many other events.He received a Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award in 2004,that same year his wife Lucille died. Thank you Sonny for bringing us your wonderful jazz tunes,and may you rest in peace.Sonny Rollins will be added on the list of my 3 part season finale called “Tributes”,honoring our favorite singers and musicians that passed away during the 2025-2026 season.Airing on Tuesday June 23rd,Thursday June 25th,and Tuesday June 30th.
