Hi everyone,i have some sad news to all of the old school hip-hop fans.Hip-Hop artist Rob Base died on May 22.He just turned 59 4 days ago on May 18th,and he died from cancer.He and Rodney “Skip” Bryce met in the 5th grade elementary school,and they team up to bring us their breakout hit called “It Takes Two”.The song was a smash and it went to #3 on Billboard’s Dance/Club Play singles chart.I heard this song on WBLS FM 107.5 in New York City back in June 1988.In case you may not know,it was sampled from the song called “Think[About It]” performed by the late Lyn Collins,and written & produced by the late James Brown.In case you may not know,hip-hop was influenced by the late James Brown & his band known for it’s riffs and beats.Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock had other hits including:”Get On The Dance Floor”,and “Joy & Pain”.Thank you Rob Base for bringing hip-hop into the mainstream,and may you rest in peace.
