Hi everyone,i major breaking news:Jazz singer Cassandra Wilson has died on Wednesday September 2nd, she was 70 years old. Cassandra was born in Jackson Miss. on December 1, 1955 to parents:Herman Fowlkes,Jr. who’s a guitarist, and a music teacher, and Mary McDaniel:who’s a school teacher and received a Phd in education. Cassandra’s music education has statred with classical music, then played the clarinet in her middle school bands, and then started writing songs, adapting a folk style. Cassandra’s jazz vocals focus towards improvisation. She was influenced by jazz singers:Abbey Lincoln, and Betty Carter. Cassandra’s jazzy voice has blended with other music genres:blues, country, and folk music. She signed with Blue Note Records in 1993 with her debut LP called “Blue Light Til Dawn”. Her jazz album mixes with pop, blues, country, and world music. Her 1996 album “New Moon Daughter” went to #1 on Billboard’s Jazz Albums Charts, and she won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Perfromance:Female at 1997 Grammy Awards. Other albums include:”Rendezvous”, “Traveling Miles”,”Belly Of The Sun”, “Glamoured”, “Thunderbird”, “Loverly”, and “Silver Pony”. She switched over to eOne Records with her one LP called “Another Country” in 2012, and then, she switched over to Legacy Recordings-Sony Music in 2015 with the LP called “Coming Forth By Day”. Cassandra was married to Anthony Wilson from 1981 to 1983,and they have a son:Jeris. Fron 2000 to 2003, Cassandra was married to actor Isaach de Bankole, who directed her in the concert film called “Traveling Miles:Cassnadra Wilson” released in 2000. Cassandra Wilson died on September 2, 2026,she was 70 years old. Her cause of death is still incomplete. That’s the latest breaking music news for you.
