Hi everyone,i hope you’re ready for next Tuesday,as i bring season 6 of The Black Soul Music Experience Podcast,and my guest will be Mr.Melvin Riley.He was the former/multi-instrumentalist and co-founder of the 80’s group Ready For The World.The group made it’s debut back in 1985 with their hit “Oh Shiela” from the group’s self-titiled debut LP released on the MCA Universal label.The song went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Singles Charts on October 12,1985 for 1 week,and #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Black singles charts on September 21,1985 for 2 weeks.The next song was called “Love You Down” from the LP called “Long Time Coming” released on the MCA Universal back in November 1986.The song went to #9 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Singles Charts,#1 on Billboard’s R&B/Black Singles Charts on December 13,1986 for 2 weeks,and #24 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Singles Charts.The debut LP went to #17 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Charts,and #3 on Billboard’s R&B/Black Albums Charts.”Oh Sheila” went gold and it sold over a thousand copies in print,and the debut LP went platininum and it sold over a million copies in print.The second album “Long Time Coming” went gold,and it sold over a thousand copies in print.After the group parted ways,Melvin Riley went solo and a few solo LP’s,but that didn’t match to the sucess of the hits back in the mid-80’s.Today,Melvin has a new LP called “No Ai”which is available now on I-Tunes,and check out his music videos available on You Tube.If you’re a big fan of the 80’s in music,and if you were a fan of Melvin Riley,and Ready For The World,then please tune in Tuesday August 25th as i open up episode#231 of season 6 of The Black Soul Music Experience Podcast.Please make this episode sucessful,and let’s get up to 800,900,and even 1,000 subscribers.It will do me a better good.Take care,god bless,have a safe week,and see Tuesday August 25th.
